Our cup runneth over! We have had an abundance of little ones in the NURSERY this fall and are looking to hire a second childcare provider for the nursery on Sunday mornings (9:30-11:30 a.m.) This is a paid position. If you know anyone who might be interested, please have them contact the Rev. Sara Potter at 860-535-1181, ext. 16 We are also working to create a more child and parent friendly environment in the nursery. We are in need of a diaper changing table and a collapsible playpen. Join the Calvary Team for the MYSTIC CROP WALK on Oct. 14 at 1:30 p.m. The 10K walk starts at St. Mark’s Church in Mystic and goes to the Noank Baptist Church and back. Sponsorship money for the walkers is donated to Church World Services to fight hunger and poverty throughout the world. If you can’t walk, you can make a donation to sponsor the team. CHURCH FLOOR REFINISHING – OCTOBER 15-23! Sunday morning services will be held as usual on Oct. 21st. In order to allow drying time, please refrain from using the church during those dates whenever possible.

TURKEY SUPPER at United Church, 67 Main St. – Sat., Oct. 20. Seatings at 5:00 and 6:15 p.m. Take-out dinners available after 5:30. Menu includes a turkey dinner and homemade dessert. Cost is $9. adults, $5. for children 12 and under. Reservations are not necessary. Dining room and restrooms are handicapped-accessible.
The next LITURGICAL VOLUNTEER SCHEDULE of ushers, lectors, etc. for Dec. 1 through Feb. 29 will soon be compiled. If you will be away during that time and unavailable to serve, please phone Jean McNutt at 860-535-9455 before Nov. 5, and we will do our best to avoid scheduling you at an inconvenient time.
QUILT SHOW: IN LIVING COLOR – at the Westerly Armory, 8 Dixon St., Westerly (up the street from the Westerly railroad station). October 19, 20, & 21 – Fri. hours are noon to 8 p.m., Sat. & Sun. hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The armory is handicapped accessible. There are literally hundreds of works to inspire both beginners and experienced quilters. Of course, the quilts are the main attraction, but there are many other exciting aspects to the show: demonstrations with an emphasis on modern, time-saving techniques, Q & A with the quilters – an opportunity to ask specific questions about what inspired the artist and how did she manage a special effect, a scavenger hunt for children with the chance to win a child’s quilt each day, a Silent Miniature Quilt Auction, a gently used book table, vendors with the latest irrestible fabrics, books, and patterns, & complimentary refreshments. OUTREACH SPOTLIGHT 17: For the past sixteen weeks, Outreach has spotlighted local charities, charities which assist our needy immediate neighbors. Outreach is also involved in contributing toward the Millennium Development Goals which address alleviation of the extreme poverty of our third world neighbors. EPISCOPAL RELIEF & DEVELOPMENT (ERD) is an agent of the Episcopal Church in America that ministers internationally, providing both immediate and long-term disaster assistance and long-term program development solutions to fight poverty.
A SACRED PLACE (the spiritual-based nonprofit organization at York Correctional Institute) is presenting a benefit concert, The Bluegrass Gospel Project on Fri., Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme. Regular tickets are $25, senior or student tickets are $20. Tickets can be purchased in advance by mailing a self-addressed, stamped envelope (with money) to : A Sacred Place, P.O. Box 422, East Lyme, CT 06333, or on the day of the concert at the door.
The PAWCATUCK NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER desperately needs the following items for the Living Supply Closet: toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner, adult toothbrushes, kleenex, baby shampoo, baby lotion and baby wash. Please put donations in the outreach basket at the back of the church or outside the church office.
