Our cup runneth over! We have had an abundance of little ones in the NURSERY this fall and are looking to hire a second childcare provider for the nursery on Sunday mornings (9:30-11:30 a.m.) This is a paid position. If you know anyone who might be interested, please have them contact the Rev. Sara Potter at 860-535-1181, ext. 16 We are also working to create a more child and parent friendly environment in the nursery. We are in need of a diaper changing table and a collapsible playpen. “VESTRY CONVERSATIONS” are happening once again! You are invited to attend Wed., Oct. 31st, 10 a.m. at the Stebbins’ home at 37 Broad St. in Stonington, Sun., Nov. 4th at 12 noon, and Thurs. The next LITURGICAL VOLUNTEER SCHEDULE of ushers, lectors, etc. for Dec. 1 through Feb. 29 will soon be compiled. If you will be away during that time and unavailable to serve, please phone Jean McNutt at 860-535-9455 before Nov. 5, and we will do our best to avoid scheduling you at an inconvenient time.
OUTREACH SPOTLIGHT 19: Phenominally efficient, 96.3% of the funds raised by four-star religious charity Food for the Poor goes to programs. Food for the Poor raises funds and provides direct assistance to the poor, usually by purchasing specifically requested materials and distributing them. The focus is the poorest of the poor in Latin America and the Caribbean, with goals to improve health, economic, social and spiritual conditions of the men, women, and children served.
A SACRED PLACE (the spiritual-based nonprofit organization at York Correctional Institute) is presenting a benefit concert, The Bluegrass Gospel Project on Fri., Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme. Regular tickets are $25, senior or student tickets are $20. Tickets can be purchased in advance by mailing a self-addressed, stamped envelope (with money) to : A Sacred Place, P.O. Box 422, East Lyme, CT 06333, or on the day of the concert at the door.
The PAWCATUCK NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER desperately needs the following items for the Living Supply Closet: toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner, adult toothbrushes, kleenex, baby shampoo, baby lotion and baby wash. Please put donations in the outreach basket at the back of the church or outside the church office.
Members of our PASTORAL CARE TEAM are available to make visits to anyone in the parish or in the community confined to their home, the hospital or a nursing facility. Please let us know so that we can schedule a time to see them. We also keep a supply of Calvary Casseroles in the freezer in the Parish Hall waiting to be delivered to individuals and/or families for whom meal preparation might be difficult.
