WE WELCOME TODAY THE REV’D PETER KNIGHT, Priest and Calvary parishioner. We are blessed to have him with us this morning as the Rector continues his Professional Development Leave.
BISHOP SMITH WILL BE VISITING CALVARY ON JUNE 29TH! There will be a time to greet the Bishop in the courtyard following both services. Please mark your calendars!
The LITURGICAL SCHEDULE for Ushers, Lectors, Ministers of Communion, Acolytes, etc. for July 1 – September 1 will soon be compiled. If you will be away during those times and unavailable to serve, please phone Jean McNutt at 535-9455 before June 9, and we will do our best to avoid scheduling you to serve at an inconvenient time.
DEANERY FUND RAISER FOR ECUADOR MISSION TRIP – Navigator game on Sun., July 13 at 1:00 (or whatever game is convenient for you). Cost is $8./ticket with $4. benefitting the Ecuador trip. To purchase tickets, see our Deanery Rep., Deb Burgess.
HABITAT NEWS! Visit Habitat of Southeastern Connecticut’s newest undertaking – Restore! This retail outlet accepts donations of new or used materials and fixtures and sells them at very reasonable prices. All proceeds go toward building more homes in New London County. Now you can finish that home improvement project and help someone in need. Restore is located at 400 New London Rd., Salem, CT (next to Salem Country Gardens). For more information and store hours, phone 860-892-9553. Bloomin’ to Build: Habitat of SECT is hosting a Rose Sale. Order a dozen roses (or more/$12.00) now until June 1. Enjoy the sweetness of roses for your graduate, bride-to-be, friend, or yourself and support Habitat. Pick up will be on June 19th from noon – 6 p.m. at Calvary. Order forms/sign up are on the Outreach bulletin board in the Parish Hall. Any questions, please contact Lori Taylor at 599-1715 or Juliet Leeming at 535-0767.
OUTREACH NOTES: As part of an economic stimulus package, many of us will receive a tax rebate this spring. What better way to stimulate the economy than to share it with the less fortunate among us? This winter has been particularly difficult for some due to rising fuel costs, the sub-prime mortgage crisis, and a slowing economy. Please consider donating a portion of your tax rebate to a local charity such as the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center or W.A.R.M. Shelter, and indicate the “Calvary Tax Share Program” in your memo. Thank you for spreading the wealth!
ECW ANNUAL YARD SALE, JUNE 14: Please search your closets and basements for items we can sell at the Yard Sale. We especially need adult accessories, such as sweaters, handbags, belts, scarves, gloves and ties. Costume jewelry is one of our most popular tables. Everyone likes linens of all kinds: placemats, napkins, towels, tablecloths. Special items, like antiques and silver will go to our Silent Auction. Remember that all our proceeds go to Outreach, so please be as generous as you can. Intake dates are June 11, 12, and 13 from 9 to 1.
PLEASE NOTE CORRECTION! We’ve been made aware that Julia Stapleton’s telephone number was listed incorrectly in our May 11th bulletin. If you can volunteer some time to work for Yard Sale Intake (see above) or on the day of the Yard Sale, please phone Julia Stapleton at 245-3657. We apologize for the typo!!
