ACOLYTE TRAINING will take place in the Church after the 10:00 worship followed by a pizza lunch!  If you have signed up to be an acolyte or would like to consider being one, please call Liz Tattersall at 460-8140 or the Rev. Amjad Samuel at 860-706-6998.

A NOTE FROM THE KIMBALLS: There are no words to express how incredible it was for us when you all came forward to lay hands on us last Sunday.  We both felt deeply blessed and strengthened by your love and care for us as we embark on this new chapter of our lives.  We take with us so many profound memories of our life with you at Calvary.  The beautiful Sue Scala platter that you gave to us is a treasure.  Now we will have our own version of “The Little Church by the Sea”.  Thank you for that special gift which will be a tangible reminder of all the spiritual gifts you have given to us.  It has been a great privilege to serve as a Pastoral Associate, to serve with Mark at the altar and to stand high in that pulpit to explore the Word of God with all of you.  Oh!  How we will miss Calvary and each of you.  Already we are looking forward to our return visits.  With grateful hearts, Anne & Dick Kimball

CROP WALK – Calvary had a record participation in the Crop Walk this year.  Members of the Youth Group led our group carrying their eye-catching green banner.  Walkers included Avery Fiftal, Morgan Miller, Michelle and Maegan Garvey, Sophie Groton, Aaron Williams, Chris and Dan Chevalier, and Victoria White as well as parents Carol and Kevin Fiftal, Bob and Brenda Williams, Alexa and Mike Garvey, Juliet Leeming, and Candy Sanford (I apologize if I left anyone out).  We raised $310 for Church World Services!

CHURCH SCHOOL KIDS & THE JUNIOR YOUTH would love to have you minister to their Christian Formation.  Please consider volunteering.  Contact the Rev’d Amjad Samuel at 535-1181, ext. 16 or at cecalvchurch@aol.com.

CONFIRMATION (AND RECEPTION) CLASSES BEGIN SOON!  If you’re interested, please contact the Rev’d Amjad Samuel at 535-1181, ext. 16 or at cecalvchurch@aol.com as soon as possible.

A DISASTER PREPAREDNESS PLAN ad-hoc committee is being formed (Diocese directed).  Please call Deb Burgess at 535-2236 to serve on the committee.

The LITURGICAL SCHEDULE of Ushers, Lectors, Ministers of Communion, etc. for Dec. 1 through Feb. 28 will soon be compiled.  If you will be away during that time and unavailable to serve, please phone Jean McNutt at 535-9455 before Nov. 3, and we will do our best to avoid scheduling you at an inconvenient time.

VESTRY CONVERSATIONS!  The response to the one held on October 23rd was so overwhelming, we are offering another one in November.  Kristen Vaughn Glasfeld, Therese Alexander, and Jennifer Parsons are hosting a Vestry Conversation at Calvary House on Tuesday, Nov. 11th at 7 p.m.  If you have attended a conversation already, please consider joining us again; if you have never attended one, please consider signing up.  Once again, please look for a sign-up sheet in the Parish Hall.  Alternatively, you may e-mail or call Kristen Vaughn Glasfeld at 536-3025 or kvglasfeld@aol.com, Therese Alexander at 245-5728 or tclarkealexander@aol.com, or Jennifer Parsons at 535-3213 or jmparsons@comcast.net.  In advance, we thank you for your support.

GET READY!  Christmas is coming early this year!  On November 16th, Outreach will hold its 2nd Annual Alternative Gift Fair.  Why not make a donation to Uncle Fred’s favorite charity instead of purchasing him yet another tie?  It will warm Grandma’s heart to know that a needy family will be provided for because you made a donation in her name.  This event is open to the public, so tell all your friends.  Let’s make the world a better place for everyone!

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TRIP TO THE BOSTON MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS HAS BEEN POSTPONED.  The new date is Thursday, Nov. 20th.  The museum has a wonderful exhibition – “Art and Empire Treasures from Assyria.”  The British Museum has loaned the Boston Museum this exciting event that should not be missed.  We must have RESERVATIONS  for this trip.  We can only take so many – first come, first reserved!  For reservations, call Winnie Cutler at 572-9669 or Carole Barnard at 535-9480.  Price is $55. including round trip bus transportation and a docent for this exhibition.  Departure from the soccer field parking lot will be at 8 a.m. with return from Boston at approximately 2:15 p.m.

COFFEE HOUR HOSTS are needed through the end of the year.  It is an easy ministry to provide a few simple sweets and to make coffee for those wanting to share fellowship and camaraderie after the 10:00 service.  If you could do this just once or twice a year, it would be a tremendous help to Calvary.  Please sign up on the sign-up sheet posted in the Parish Hall.  Your help will be appreciated!

EVERY THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS SEASONS, the ECW collects food for local families who need our help.  In the past, our parishioners have been so generous.  We would appreciate anything that you could contribute – either non-perishable food, a frozen turkey, or donations.  A basket will be put in the back of the church for canned or packaged food.

COOKS ARE NEEDED FOR THE WARM SHELTER.  We provide a meal for 50 people on the third Wednesday of every month.  There are sign-up sheets on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall.  If you have any questions, call Candy Sanford at 535-3399.
