BISHOP’S CONSECRATION! Bishop-Elect, the Rev. Dr. Ian Douglas, will be consecrated on Sat., April 17th, at 11 a.m. in Hartford. Bishop Desmond Tutu will be preaching, and the Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori will be presiding. The Diocese strongly recommends that individuals do not drive themselves as parking is limited and the walk will be long. Seabury Deanery is arranging for transportation via school buses. (Coach buses were not available due to the short deadline.) Bus(es) will elave St. David’s parking lot in Gales Ferry at 9 a.m. Reservations need to be made via email to secretary@seaburydeanery.org not later than April 14th. Cost is $18. per person payable that day. Cash or checks are acceptable, checks are to be made out to Seabury Deanery. Any questions, please contact Ann Cady at 860-608-3835, and please don’t forget to RSVP at the Diocesan website www.ctdiocese.org.
WARM SHELTER COOKS NEEDED! Cooks are needed for the WARM Shelter for 2010. On the third Wed. of every month, Calvary Church provides an evening meal for the WARM Shelter that includes an entrée and salad or vegetable for 50 people and 4 gallons of milk and fruit juice. You can volunteer to provide all or part of a meal. You can sign up in the Parish Hall or by calling Candy Sanford at 860-535-3399 or cdsanford@sbcglobal.net.
ECW NO SWEAT YOGA – Elizabeth Johnstone is a certified Yoga teacher who works with the women prisoners in Niantic. The class is held in the Chapel at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays. The fee is $10. for one hour, and all proceeds go to Recovery Yoga (http://www.recoveryyoga.org) as a part of our Outreach Program, since Elizabeth donates her time. While Yoga poses are incorporated, it is stretching and gentle movements in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. If you’re interested or have any questions, you can call Julia Stapleton at 860-245-3657, otherwise we hope to see you there!
Our friends at the PAWCATUCK NEIGHBOORHOOD CENTER need the following food items: canned fruit of any type, soups (chicken and beef broth, clam chowder), baked beans, mixed vegetables, canned meat (chicken, ham, salmon), grape and strawberry jelly, white rice, ramen noodles, and pasta sauce in plastic containers. Donations can be left in the basket at the back of the church. Thank you for your continued support of our neighbors in need.
COFFEE HOUR HOSTS are needed. It is an easy ministry to provide a few simple sweets and to make coffee for those wanting to share fellowship and camaraderie after the 10:00 service. If you could do this just once or twice a year, it would be a tremendous help to Calvary. Please sign up on the sign-up sheet posted in the Parish Hall. Your help will be appreciated!
CALVARY CHURCH ALTAR FLOWERS FUND – Altar arrangements in memory of a loved one or in celebration of a special occasion may be sponsored for a donation of $60.
