This Week’s Calendar & Prayer List - Holy Conversation Continues

We are proud of our young people confirmed by Bishop Laura Ahrens in St. David’s, Gales Ferry, on May 1st:  Michelle Garvey, Libby Hall, Hopper Hillegass, Quintin Parsons, and Hunt Welch.  “May you continue Christ’s faithful soldiers and servants all the days of your lives.”

May 15th at 7:30 p.m. The magnificent Haydn’s CREATION will be performed at St. Mary Church in Stonington Borough by Calvary Music School’s own STONINGTON CHORAL SOCIETY.  They will be directed by CMS Executive Director Simon Holt and accompanied by professional soloists Sarah Callinan, soprano, Steven Sanders, tenor, and Ross Benoliel, Baritone, and orchestra.  Suggested donation is $20.  This tenth anniversary concert is truly not to be missed! 

SUNDAY SCHOOL in SPRING:  For the five Sundays in May, adults, children, and families, will begin the morning together in church at 10:00.  The first half of the service will be child-friends, yet complete, including communion.  The Sunday School will then process to the Parish Hall.  The second half will include an offertory anthem, a reading and sermon, and prayers.

All women of Calvary Church are cordially invited to attend the ANNUAL ECW SPRING LUNCHEON on Thurs., May 13 at 11:30 a.m. at Calvary House, the home of The Rev. Dr. Leslie C. CALLING ALL COOKS!  The Pastoral Care and Prayer Committee provides casseroles and soups to parishioners who are temporarily homebound.  Recipients always enjoy having a homemade soup or casserole delivered to their home.  Please contact Lois Cole at 860.535.2089 for information.  Thank you!

CALVARY LUNCH BUNCH will meet on Sunday, May 16 at The Water Street Cafe at 11:45 a.m.  If you are on your own or without family, please join us for good food, fellowship and conversation.  No reservations necessary.

SAVE THE DATE!  The CALVARY NURSERY SCHOOL’S MAY FAIR is scheduled for Sunday, May 23rd with a rain date of Sunday, May 30th.  We’ll have games, music, food, and lots of family fun.  We could use youth volunteers to help with the kids’ games and events.  Please contact Therese Alexander for more information at 860-501-0924 or tclarkealexander@aol.com.  Be sure to include a contact  phone number.

RECTOR SEARCH UPDATE: Calvary’s profile is being finalized.  Goals for our new Rector will be presented to the Vestry on May 13.  Interview
questions are being refined, and we will begin compiling interview packets for candidates.

INTERACTIVE LANGUAGE LEARNING SOLUTIONS is now enrolling classes in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese language learning.  Classes will be conducted in 40- minute sessions twice a week for 8 weeks. Sessions will include language instruction through songs, music, dance, storytelling, and cultural experiences.  A variety of classes will be offered for children ages 2-7.  Our next session will be held from May 10th -July 1st.  Classes are filling up fast!  Contact us at 401-742-6569 for class times and locations  or by email at vbrown@interactivelanguagesolutions.

PLEASE NOTE that Phyllis will be away on vacation from May 3-14.  Messages will be checked frequently by volunteers.  The office will resume normal office hours on Monday, May 17th.
