Save the Date! Fish Bake 2010!

Weekly Calendar & Prayer List for July 25

FOR YOUR CALENDARS:  Remember that our services during the summer are at 8 & 9:30 a.m. through the Sunday of Labor Day weekend (this year on Sept. 5th).  September 12th we resume our schedule of services at 8 & 10 a.m.

The LITURGICAL SCHEDULE OF Ushers, Lectors, Ministers of Communion, Acolytes, etc. for Sept. 12 – Nov. 28 will soon be compiled.  If you will be away during that time and unavailable to serve, please phone Jean McNutt at 860.535.9455 before Aug. 9, and we will do our best to avoid scheduling you at an inconvenient time.

HELP NEEDED!!!  Printing & collating the Sunday bulletins!  Training is available.  The printing is done in the office on Fridays, generally in the morning, but later if that is more convenient.  If you can help, you would be sharing the duties with two other parishioners, which would mean you would have duty about every two-three weeks.  Please call Phyllis at the office – 860.535.1181, ext. 10.

Your STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE invites and encourages you to join a growing group of visitors for this year’s EMC.  There are sign-up sheets in the back of the church OR call Tom Sanford at 860.535.3399 or Bill Hoffman at 860.536.0594 to volunteer.  This is an easy and enjoyable opportunity to get to know others in the congregation and to support this year’s Stewardship Program.  We look forward to hearing from you.

RECTOR SEARCH UPDATE: We have received the names of candidates and mailed each one a packet containing information about us and requesting two essay questions and a DVD of one of their sermons.  We will review the responses as they come in.  Please continue to pray for us.

THIS WEEK FROM THE PAWCATUCK NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER:  Schools are out for the summer, which puts a greater strain on low-moderate income families to provide more meals at home.  This, in turn, puts a greater strain on our Free Emergency food Pantry.  The items most needed this week are:  soup (100% out) – clam chowder, chicken broth and beef broth, Ramen Noodles, beans (100% out) -–baked beans, dry beans, vegetables – mixed, side dishes (100% out) -–white rice (most popular), instant noodle mix, stuffing, canned meat (100% out) – canned chicken, canned Spam, fruit – canned pineapple, peaches, pears, and mixed fruit cocktail.  Our career & casual clothing closet is in dire need of the following items: bed sheets – lightly used or new (single, double, or larger), blankets (lightly used or new, all sizes, pillows (new only); clothing – girls’ summer clothing, sizes 6 – 10, toddler summer clothing (boys and girls) – sizes 3T, 4T, 5T, and 6T.  The PNC thanks you for your continuing help!

COFFEE HOUR HOSTS are needed.  It is an easy ministry to provide a few simple sweets and to make coffee for those wanting to share fellowship and camaraderie after the 10:00 service.  If you could do this just once or twice a year, it would be a tremendous help to Calvary.  Please sign up on the sign-up sheet posted in the Parish Hall.  Your help will be appreciated!

CALVARY CHURCH ALTAR FLOWERS FUND – Altar arrangements in memory of a loved one or in celebration of a special occasion may be sponsored for a donation of $60.  Gift forms are available at the back of the church or you may call Phyllis in the office at 535-1181 or Gill Perry at 535-8139.  You may also donate a lesser amount of your choosing toward the Calvary Church Altar Flowers Fund.  Your gift will be used, together with those of others, on the Sundays when there is no designated gift.  The names of donors will appear in the bulletin or you may mark your gift “Anonymous”.  Please mark the memo line of your check “Flower Fund” and mail to Calvary Church or place in the alms basin.  Should you wish to join the Flower Guild, please do not hesitate to call.

TAG SALE at ST. DAVID’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, corner of Routes 12 & 214, Gales Ferry, 860-464-6516, www.saintdavidsgf.org, on Sat., Aug. 7th, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
